Over 530 legislators who will sit in the 12th parliament have all been sworn in and are waiting to commence their work as soon as possible.
As the battle for speakership and Deputy Speakership takes twists and voting set for 25th in an event set to take place at Kololo independence grounds, grounds have started shifting.
Outgoing leader of opposition also Nakawa West legislator who got office from former Nyendo-Mukungwe MP Mathias Mpuuga yesterday handed over all property affiliated to the office of the Leader of Opposition which he has held since 2024.
Among the things he handed over were office keys, a government car, the security detail among other things back to the clerk’s office.
Ssenyonyi was a first time legislator but he chaired the Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities, and State Enterprises (COSASE) very well before being elevated to the Leader of Opposition which he has literally performed beyond expectations as a first time legislator.
With Bobi Wine still outside the country, the next plans of NUP regarding who will be the next leader of opposition remains unknown to the public though some voices have been requesting NUP to have Ssenyonyi continue as the Leader of Opposition.
Parliament is now in a transition period, it only has Members of Parliament but without Speaker or Deputy Speaker. The Clerk to parliament is now the one running the affairs and everything in this hot season that is seeing corruption scandals start biting at the Direction of President Museveni.
