By Buatre George

Police in Adjumani District have arrested three women in connection with an attempted murder case arising from a violent clan conflict over disputed land in Pakele Sub-county.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning at about 7:00am in Amelo Village, Parichi Parish, where members of the Panyiri and Parkwanya clans reportedly clashed over ownership of contested land.

According to the North West Nile Regional Police spokesperson, SP Collins Asea, police received information at around 8:00am about the violent confrontation and immediately dispatched Field Force Unit (FFU) officers together with personnel from the land desk to the scene.

“The victims were found critically injured with deep cuts after the attackers allegedly abandoned them in the bush and fled the area,” SP Asea said.

The victims were identified as Issa Rhay Lodo, 64, and Clara Asienzo, 45, both residents of Manyarala Village in Parichi Ward, Pakele Town Council. Police said the injured victims were rescued from the scene and rushed to Adjumani General Hospital for medical treatment.

During subsequent operations, investigators arrested three female suspects identified as Mandera Grace, Mazira Kevin and Arabaku Gloria. The suspects were reportedly intercepted while attempting to pack luggage and flee the area.

A case of attempted murder was registered at Adjumani Central Police Station under CRB 245/2026. SP Asea said a team of investigators and Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) visited and documented the scene as part of ongoing inquiries.

“Statements have been recorded from witnesses, and the suspects are currently detained at Adjumani CPS to assist with investigations,” he said.

The police spokesperson noted that the violent incident is believed to have stemmed from a longstanding land dispute between the two clans. He added that investigations are ongoing with the aim of ensuring that all persons involved are prosecuted in accordance with the law while maintaining peace and ensuring justice.
