In the news this afternoon, former Spy and political commentator Charles Rwomushana has been hand picked from the studios of Radio Simba in Kampala by armed men and taken to unknown destination.
Rwomushana was appearing on a talk show dubbed Gasimbagane Nebanamawulire hosted by veteran journalist Peter Kibazo when men in civilian clothes holding guns stormed the studios and grabbed him before whisking him away just like they have done to the rest of Ugandans who have faced the wrath of such arrests and end up in Muhoozi’s basement.
It’s not yet clear why Rwomushana was arrested but reports have linked him to the treason charges which four-time presidential candidate Kiiza Besigye, his aide Obed Lutale and Capt Denis Oola are currently facing before the tough and defiant Justice Emmanuel Baguma.
Rwomushana is a household name when it comes to political shows but he famously features on NBS TV’s Barometer on every Tuesday as a panelist and other TV and Radio stations dissecting different political developments in the country.
Rwomushana was Makerere University’s Guild President between 1992-93. After Graduation, he became a constituent (CA) delegate for Rujumbura county during the 1995 constitution making process but he lost the Rujumbura MP contest in 1996.
