Today, the country observed the national cleaning day which was set for every last Saturday of every month. During the cleaning hours, movement is restricted to only those who are exempted as police clarified early in the week.
No water vessel, motor vehicle or motor cycle is allowed to move except when they’re carrying tourists, medical workers, sick people, long distance trucks carrying merchandise, journalists and other groups exempted.
Today’s national cleaning day ended in bloodshed in Kanaaba, Ndejje in Kampala after a police officer took matters in his own hands and shot a boda boda rider dead.
The incident occurred at around 7:30am within Katwe Police Division with preliminary findings indicating that the rider tried to force his way from a restricted area to go about his business as community members were cleaning.
The victim has been identified as Ronald Kizito aged 38 while the trigger happy officer has been identified as Constable Allan Okello who has since been arrested by police to help with the investigations
Police has in a statement condoled with the family of the deceased and assured that investigations will reveal the motives of the killer cop.
