Having made him his foreign affairs minister, president Museveni expected Kyotera MP also NRM vice chairman for Buganda Haruna Kasolo to become a grown up and begin to avoid certain things.
For example, the Ugandan leader didn’t expect a diplomat Kasolo is supposed to now behave like to go dancing with dirty young girls and local celebrities at low-grade kadongo kamu music concerts.
He is supposed to become a transformed figure to match the decorum and sophistication that comes with being minister of foreign affairs for a serious country Uganda wants to project itself to be.
Over the weekend, Kasolo came with one of his side dishes to attend the album launch of a kadongo kamu singer down town Kampala. While there, Kasolo was involved in a vulgar quarrel with a local musician called King Saha. They quarreled about old feuding which originate from their village in Kyotera.
The entertainment journalists had a field day with the state-owned Bukedde newspaper doing a big cover page story on Monday depicting Kasolo, a supposed diplomat, being rolled in the mud with King Saha while his side dish physically shielded him. State house social media handlers brought the sensation Bukedde headline to the president’s attention early morning on Monday.
Museveni, who rarely accesses Bukedde, sent for a copy and studied it. Immediately after, he made phone calls to his intelligence lieutenants including one who he asked “how many wives does Haruna Kasolo have?” The Ugandan leader keeps a personal file on each of his top officials and what he all along knew from Kasolo’s file was that he has 13 wives.
The side dish he was photographed with at the kadongo kamu concert doesn’t feature in that file, which prompted the president to ask how many women his minister exactly has.
The president seemed disgusted and must have spent some good time wondering whether it wasn’t a mistake to put Kasolo in such a sensitive ministry where he currently is the only minister on duty because the other two Echodu Calvin and Adonia Ayebare are still being scrutinized.
The quick information the president’s handlers were able to gather in order to answer the question of how many, shows that Kasolo has several other female relationships including one with a mobile money girl working with MTN, a one Hadijah, a young lawyer from western Uganda and also Shakira a nurse in Kampala. There is also talk on young women working at the OPM involved in the processing of ministers’ travel clearance and preparation.
President Museveni is now wondering why Kasolo is beginning to get drunk with power, getting excited with too much money and why he is quickly getting into the same high libido problems professor Gilbert Bukenya faced when he was serving as vice president and NRM chairman for Buganda. State house handlers believe that foreign affairs is a very sensitive ministry where the president cannot afford to have a potentially scandalous minister.
