President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today taken a swipe at young Ugandans fleeing the country for economic opportunities in the Middle East, particularly Dubai labeling the migration an unnecessary search for “greener pastures’.
During his State of the Nation address with a strictly regulated audience of Members of Parliament and top government dignitaries convened under tight Ministry of Health guidelines due to the Ebola outbreak at Kololo, Museveni argued that Uganda’s rapidly expanding economy holds more than enough wealth to sustain it’s youth if they embraced commercial agriculture and local manufacturing.
Museveni says he wonders why people go to Dubai a desert with harsh climate conditions revealing that himself when he goes there he prays to come back quickly and attributes this to inferiority complex, ignorance and bad leadership. He also calls Uganda a paradise
“You find people going to work in Dubai, what are you going to do in Dubai a desert. When i go there i pray that i come back quickly, the climate. You leave paradise here, this is paradise and you go to work in those places. It is inferiority complex, ignorance, and poor leadership….”-Museveni said
The president also didn’t mince his words when he revealed that this is Kisanja no corruption, no more kukongola, no more kugumaaza and more Kuhenda and no more politeness to non-performers.
