Tooro Kingdom has confirmed the death of King Oyo Rukidi Kabanda Iguru IV the reigning monarch of the Tooro Kingdom who took the reigns of the throne in 1995 at the age of three years.
The news about the King’s death was first shared by journalist Andrew Irumba of the Spy and later carried by other outlets but that development was flagged by the Kingdom which at that time clarified that the King wasn’t dead but in critical condition.
Taking to their official Kingdom pages, the announcement made by the Prime Minister has have confirmed that the King rested at exactly 10:00pm, calling it an immeasurable loss to the Royal family, the people of Tooro and the country at large.
The Prime Minister Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki has called on the people of Tooro to remain united, calm and prayerful during this difficult time as the Kingdom works out on the mourning and burial of the King.
It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I announce the passing of His Majesty the Omukama of Tooro, King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, at approximately 10:00 p.m. this evening.
