The president has released the list of Ministers he’s going to work with for the term 2026-2031. He has retained very many of those who were in his previous cabinet but also named very many new faces.
Some big name politicians have been dropped while some have made a come back into the cabinet and others have been moved to different ministries from another.
President has retained Kakumiro District Women MP Robinah Nabbanja as prime minister, Katakwi Women MP Jesca Alupo as Vice President.
Others who were retained in the same positions in the cabinet include;
2nd Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs-Rt Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga
3rd Deputy Prime Minister and minister without Portfolio-Hon. Lukia Nakadama
Minister of Education and Sports- Hon.Janet Kataha Museveni
Minister for Presidency-Hon.Babirye Milly Babalanda
Minister for Security-Hon. Jim Muhwezi
Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs- Hon. Minsa Kabanda
Minister for Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries- Hon. Frank Tumwebaze
Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs- Hon.Norbert Mao
Minister for Lands and Urban Development- Hon. Judith Nabakooba
Minister for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities- Hon. Tom Butime
The president Moved some of his cabinet ministers to new dockets.
Dr. Chris Baryomunsi moved to Health while Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng has been moved to the ICT and National Guidance. Museveni has appointed Dr. Monica Musenero Musanza as Minister of Energy and Mineral Development while Hon. Justine Lumumba Kasule is the new Government Chief Whip.
Gen Kahinda Otafiire for Water and Environment from Internal Affairs while Gen Katumba Wamala is the new Minister of Public Service. Museveni has appointed Hon.Kiryowa Kiwanuka as the new Minister for Defense an Veteran Affairs.
President has Appointed Hon. Byamukama Fred as the Minister for Works and Transport while Hon.Balaam Barugahara has been appointed as Minister for Local government. Hon Musasizi is the new Minister for Finance, Planning and Economic Development.
Veteran politician Prof Ephraim Kamuntu makes a comeback and is the new minister for Foreign Affairs while Gen Henry Tumukunde is the new Minister of Gender, Labor and social development while Dr. Chrispus Walter Kiyonga has also made a comeback 2nd Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament.
The other big names who have made come back in cabinet is Hon. Sam Engola who has been appointed Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees in the office of the Prime Minister.
Eng Jonard Asiimwe the NRM Vice Chairperson Western Uganda has been appointed Minister, Office of the president in charge of Science, Technology and Innovation while Hon.Sanjay Tana has been appointed Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives. Amb Adonia Ayebare has been appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs.
