In the news this morning, the body of the fallen King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV has finally returned home commencing the 9 day mourning period in Tooro Kingdom.
King Oyo died last week on Thursday following a long battle with sickness in the United States where he had been taken for further medical attention at the age of 34 years.
The president is leading the country in paying respect to the fallen King as people gather both at Entebbe Airport to recieve the body and also at Humura Grounds in Kyegegwa district where the body will land later today aboard a UPDF helicopter before being taken to the palace in Fortportal.
The body was flown from Nairobi to Entebbe aboard a 5Y-FAM jet which arrived this afternoon before being loaded into a waiting UPDF helicopter.
King Oyo ascended to the throne on 12th September 1995 at the age of just three years after the death of his father on 26th August 1995. Coincidentally the 9 day mourning period which starts today will end on 12th September [his coronation] when he will be laid to rest.
Tributes continue coming from with Tooro Kingdom, across Uganda and the world at large with the burial organizing committee stating that several kings from across Africa are set to attend his burial.
