Members of parliament who won elections in the January 2026 elections have started taking their oaths today as the 12th parliament takes shape.

Ahead of the Speakership elections scheduled for 25th this month, stakes are continuing to raise and the sun seems to be setting against Bukedea Woman Member of parliament who was Speaker of the 11th parliament.

It all started from the online parliament exhibition which unleashed traces of coordinated misuse of government funds, public endorsement corruption orchestrated by Anita Among.

Exposing her wealth with huge donations to churches, a multi billion house in Bukedea, other prime properties in Kampala, posh cars including the recently acquired Rolls Royce worth Shs3.7billion, things are getting sour.

As she was attending the president Museveni’s swearing in ceremony amidst the pomp and glamour at Kololo ceremonial grounds, the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Secretary General David Kabanda was reading a statement at their Nagulu office revealing that their leader Muhoozi Keinerugaba had rolled back the support he had for Anita Among and Thomas Tayebwa re-election as Speaker and Deputy speaker of the 12th parliament.

Muhoozi through Kabanda went ahead and directed all PLU affiliated Members of Parliament to instead support a candidate who will be presented to them by the President signaling a possible power change of a different candidate other than Anita Among.

It was also later revealed that the very powerful and filthy rich Bukedea Woman Member of Parliament was summoned to State House Nakasero for a high stakes meeting as she seeks to get endorsement of the man from Rwakitura who has on many times warned against corruption at parliament.

Now to add more misery in her struggles, Six Ugandans have also rolled a petition to the Inspector General of Government (IGG) Aisha Naluzze Batala demanding access to information pertaining what Anita Among declared as her wealth to the IG office.

“We accordingly lodge this complaint regarding failure to declare and/ or under-declaration of wealth by the aforementioned Anita Annette Among and hereby request you, as provided for by Section 22 of the Leadership Code Act, to furnish us with her declaration, if any.”- reads part of the petition.

The race for Speakership has drawn several candidates and battle lines had clearly been drawn between Anita Among and Laro-Pece legislator also Democratic Party President General Norbert Mao.

With Muhoozi rolling back his endorsement of Anita Among and Tayebwa, other candidates have joined the mix and these include Mbale City legislator Lydia Wanyoto Mutende, West Budama County West legislator Jacob Oboth Oboth and Bukono county MP Persis Namuganza.
