Reports from NMG indicate that armed men raided the stations in the wee hours of Sunday 28th June at 5am and forced switched the stations off and kept a visible presence at the premises in Namuwongo where Daily Monitor, Dembe FM and KFM operate from and at Serena Conference Centre where NTV and Spark TV operate from.
The crackdown follows a series of threats by Muhoozi who said the media house will close and that he had got clearance from his father to sanction such operations on the stations.
Daily Monitor, KFM and Dembe FM faced closure in 2013 when the published a story relating to a letter which Gen. David Tinyefunza wrote claiming that Museveni was grooming his son who was a Brigadier by then heading SFC to take over from him, government denied such. 13 years later, what was labeled as a lie is now turning into reality.
Mzee has approved my plan to close both NTV and Monitor. We are moving immediately!
